Review and Overview on the Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth Headset.

Bluetooth headset designs did not change much over the last few years. The only difference to be noticed is the size, since they somehow got a little smaller from they time that they were first introduced. There is however one exceptions though, the Aliph Jawbone which has its perforated diamond shaped shell. However Plantronics is now offering the fashionable headset market a most different looking headset we've seen to date, the Plantronics Discovery 925.

The overall look Plantronics Discovery 925 is very stylish and one-of-a-kind. The Discovery 925 is now available in black, gold, and a purple like hue color, but will be having more colors later on. The Discovery 925 features a square diamond shape on the top, and it's this square shape that houses the multifunction button, as well as a LED indicator light. The boom mic narrows down to a point, giving a very stylish look and forming a hollow triangle shape in the middle. The multifunction button is nice and big, and is very easy to press, even while worn on the ear.

The back of the Plantronics Discovery 925 is very simple and features a small in-ear style earpiece along with a gel eartip cover. The eartip has a square loop that lets the earpiece fit in the ear without the need of an ear hook. The Discovery 925 comes with small, medium, and large eartips for different size ears, just as Aliph has done with their Jawbone 2, offering multiple ear pieces to accommodate all ear sizes. We found that the ear pieces fit excellent, being snug and secure, though it does take a littile maneuvering to get it to it's perfect fit.

The features of the Discovery 925 is very similar to the other Plantronics headsets. It has the typical answering, ending, and rejecting calls, as well as voice-dial support, last-number redial, and the capability to transfer calls from the headset to the phone and from the phone to the headset. A great feature added to the Discovery 925 is the "Multipoint technology", which lets you pair up to two different Bluetooth devices at once, enabling you to use one headset with two different phones.

The Discovery 925 comes with a leather charging case that looks a lot like a lipstick case. You can charge up the case along with the headset for extra battery life.
Having tested the Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth headset with the RIM BlackBerry Pearl phone, our staff were able to offer a hands on review. They found that the pairing process went very smoothly thanks to the Discovery 925's QuickPair system that automatically places the headset in pairing mode when it's turned on for the first time. Call quality was excellent, with audio performance comparable with landline quality. This is thanks to Plantronic's AudioIQ digital signal processing technology, a technology that reduces background noise. Callers reported that our voice sounded very natural. However, it did not perform so well in windy very environments. For optimum performance it is suggested that the boom mic should point toward the corner of the mouth as this enhance voice clarity considerably.

The Plantronics Discovery 925 measures 2.7 inch long by 0.9 inch wide by 0.5 inch deep. Being very lightweight, weighing only about 0.28 ounce, it certainly won't weigh your ear down.

The Plantronics Discovery 925 has a rated talk time of 5 hours. It performed a standby time of approximately 7 days when having the Multipoint technology turned off, and a rated standby time of approximately 4 days when it's turned on.

ShopCell.com Discounted Cell Phone Accessories offers now the Plantronics Discovery 925 for a low price of $74.99.
